3/15/1901Guru Hanuman was born at Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. He was the pioneer and contributor of wrestling in India. He was bestowed with the Padamshri in 1983. His pupil Satpal and Kartar Singh won Gold Medals in Asian Games.
12/31/1861Cherrapunji in Assam received rainfall of 22,990 mm in 1861. This was a world record in itself as no other country or place had received rains to such an extent.
1/20/1997The third Test between India and South Africa ends in a draw in Johannesburg.
1/29/1912Judge A.N. Ray, Chief Justice and Supreme Court of India, was born.
11/17/1932The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
2/2/1970Bertrand Rusell, great philosopher, mathematician, author and chairmain of the Indian League, died at Merioneth, North Wales at the age of 98.
