Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2E), fifth satellite in INSAT-2 series, launched. This has multipurpose communication & meteorological capabilities. This is still in use. Launched by European launch vehicle Ariane, ISRO has leased eleven 36 MHz equivalent units of C-band capacity on board to INTELSAT organisation.

1/22/1666	Shahjahan (Sjihab Al-Din Sultan C Shah D Jahan), great Mughal emperor, died at the Agra fort as a prisoner, to rest besides Mumtaz in Taj Mahal. Jahanara arranged that Sahjahan be laid.
8/22/1922	Alluri Seetaram Raju inspired and organised the tribals to wage a war against the British. Raju's army raided Chintapalli police station and there was regular warfare between him and the British forces.
