11/19/1998The Indira Gandhi memorial award is presented to Mirta Saavedra Polo, Ambassador of Panama, for her contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.
2/21/1991Opposition boycotts the President's address as a protest against the dismissal of Tamil Nadu government.

2/17/1993Rani Gaidinliu, freedom fighter, social reformer and political leader, died at her native village in Manipur. The British army made a surprise attack on her position and captured her. 7/14/1856Gopal Ganesh Agarkar, great social worker, was born.
5/3/1764Mir Kasim, with the backing of Delhi Emperor, attacked on Patna but this weak Emperor was defeated by Britishers. Britishers became the rulers of Bengal, the richest province of India.
