4/6/1930	Mahatma Gandhi picked up a lump of natural salt for breaking the 'Salt Law'. He was arrested at Dandi. This movement gathered strength and within a month about one lakh people were sent to jail. This violation of Salt Law was the second great step in India's Freedom Movement.
4/5/1930	Mahatma Gandhi reached Dandi, a small costal village in Gujarat, after travelling 385 kms with 78 followers to break the recently imposed ""Salt Law"". This event is known as 'Dandi March' and was started from Sabarmati Ashram near Ahmedabad.
12/27/1996	Mahashweta Devi, Bengali litterateur, win the Gyanpith Award.
2/26/1975	Bhanubhai Shah established the first kite museum of India called 'Shankar Kendara' in Ahmedabad.

8/9/1942	Mahatma Gandhi after announcing 'do or die' slogan alongwith 'Quit India Movement' at Bombay was arrested along with 50 others. Gandhiji was interned in Aga Khan Palace at Poona. This Do or Die slogan deep rooted in Indian hearts and resulted in nationwide Quit India Movment. This day is commemorated as ""Kranti Day"". Govind Vallabh Pant was send to Ahmednagar Jail, while Sarojini Naidu and many other leaders were also arrested.
12/20/1999	The Delhi HC dismisses a plea from Rajendra Yadav challenging his retirement from the Prachar Bharati Board.
