12/1/1998Dhian Singh (103), freedom fighter dies at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. He was a member of the Indian National Army and was jailed a number of times during the freedom movement.
8/21/1995Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, noted physics scientist, died at the age of 84. He was one of the world's leading astro-physicists for his contributions to the study of stars. Chandrasekhar had received the highest award in Science--the Noble Prize in Physics in 1983.
