10/4/1997Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2D), fourth satellite in INSAT-2 series, became inoperable due to power bus anomaly. This satellite had capabilities such as mobile satellite service, business communication and television outreach beyond Indian boundaries.
11/21/1961Communist China announced a cease-fire in its border war with India and said it would withdraw its troops 12 miles behind the boundary lines that existed in 1959. China said it was making the move to end the hostilities and to implement proposals it had made in October to settle the border dispute. Before the ceasefire, Chinese troops had seized the Indian headquarters at Bomdila near Tibet and were threatening the Indian state of Assam. 6/29/1857Qutubu'd-din Aibak (1206-1210) was crowned at Lahore after the death of Muhammad of Ghuri. He was originally a slave of Turkestan. As he started his career as a slave, the dynasty founded by him in India is known as ""Slave Dynasty"". The construction of Qutabminar was started during his regime. Since he was very generous, the people called him ""Lakh Baksh"".
