New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) A day after Congress MP Manish Tewari demanded the Winter Session of Parliament, Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote a letter to the Speaker to convene Parliament session.

Chowdhury in his letter wrote, "The most notable amongst them is the ongoing farmers' agitation, status/preparedness of Covid-19 vaccine, economic slowdown, unemployment scenario, the continuous face-off on the India-China border, unabated ceasefire violation on the Indo-Pak border".

The Congress leader attacked the government over not resolving the farmers' agitation and said, "I do propose the government to resolve the farmers' issues as fast as possible and do not persuade 'wear them out' policy against the farmers."

They have been languishing on the road under the sky and also enduring chilly weather of Delhi much to the discomfort of the farmers and have been agitating by squatting on the Delhi bound roads for over a week. The food givers of our country should be given due honour and dignity.

"Already the plight of the farmers has assumed global dimension and severely dented the image of the welfare nation much to the discomfiture of the people of India. Hope, the fourth round of talks between the farmers and the government will end up resolving the core concerns of the farmers of Hindustan," he said.

Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday had demanded the government convene the session without any delay. He tweeted: "Farmers have besieged Delhi, Economy is officially in recession...Govt needs to convene the winter session of Parliament asap without delay."

Tewari also said the need for the session was imperative in the wake of the rising Covid cases and the Chinese aggression. He tweeted, "Chinese continues to encroach upon over 1000 square kilometres of our land, COVID cases are at 95 lakhs with 1.38 lakhs dead in 8 months..."

The government has convened an all-party meet on Friday on the issue of vaccine distribution.
